UAE Christmas balikbayan box cut-off 2026: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah (sea + air)
No balikbayan courier in the UAE posts a Christmas 2026 cut-off on its own website (sites checked October 18 and 19, 2026). Palawan Cargo LLC posts delivery times by Philippine region, counted from the day the ship leaves, and taken back from Dec 24, Noche Buena, its 40-50 days to Metro Manila put the last sailing between Wednesday, November 4 and Saturday, November 14, 2026. Its longer windows for mainland Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao run out at sailings on November 4 and October 25. Past those, the same courier’s weekly air service counts back to Monday cut-offs of November 23 for the Visayas and Mindanao, December 7 for mainland Luzon and December 14 for Metro Manila. Palawan publishes only the windows (palawancargollc.ae, checked 2026-10-19); the dates above are derived, not posted.
Two sources say the sea leg may take longer this year, and neither puts a number on it. Palawan’s pricing page warns its estimates “may be affected due to port congestion”. Maersk’s advisory of October 8 says customers “may experience longer transit and delivery times” while Khor Fakkan, one of the two east-coast ports from which diverted UAE cargo now moves overland (Semafor, 2026-09-02), is congested.

Which UAE couriers post a Christmas 2026 cut-off for the Philippines?
None of them. Eight couriers turned up with a website of their own offering UAE-to-Philippines boxes, and a ninth, Forex eShip, is on DTI’s UAE file although its site carries no UAE terms. The table lists all nine alphabetically, with each name checked against two Philippine government lists. Names in the two right-hand columns are printed as the lists print them, and a list entry records accreditation only. It says nothing about service.
| Courier (website) | What its website posts | 2026 Christmas cut-off | DTI-FTEB UAE file, as of 31 Aug 2026 | BOC port lists (2022) |

The DTI file is the newer of the two lists. Its UAE section, dated 31 August 2026, runs to 58 rows: 44 agents in Dubai, 5 in Abu Dhabi, 3 in Ajman, 3 in Umm Al Quwain, 2 in Jebel Ali and 1 in Sharjah. Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah have no row. Five rows carry an expiry date that had already passed by Oct 18, among them CargoNet’s partner on 7 September. No September file had been posted by Oct 18, so a renewal of those five rows would first show up there.
Several Dubai agents pair with more than one Philippine company. Pinas Express Cargo has four partners on the file, SBC Express two. The Bureau of Customs page is older, with port lists from August 2022, though it now also hosts a copy of the August 2026 DTI list without the expiry column.
The press has reported a 2026 sea schedule attributed to Pinas Cargo. Its own site does not carry it, so the calendar leaves it out.

How long does a box take from Dubai to the Philippines?
Palawan Cargo LLC is the only UAE courier checked that prints a day count per region, for both sea and air. Its pricing page counts the sea window “from vessel departure” and adds that “Estimated delivery time may be affected due to port congestion.” The homepage gives shorter single figures, 60 days by sea and 2-5 days by air, so the courier states two windows for the same service.
On Palawan’s own table the slow end for Mindanao is 90 days and for Metro Manila 50, a gap of 40 days (derived, slow end against slow end). Each window, counted back from Dec 24, gives the latest sailing or air cut-off below.
| Destination | Latest sailing or cut-off, counted back from Dec 24 | What it leaves out |
|---|---|---|
| Sea · Metro Manila | Sailing Wed Nov 4 (slow end) to Sat Nov 14 (fast end) | Hand-over to sailing time; congestion |
| Sea · mainland Luzon | Sailing Sun Oct 25 to Wed Nov 4 | Hand-over to sailing time; congestion |
| Sea · Visayas | Sailing Mon Oct 5 to Sun Oct 25 | Hand-over to sailing time; congestion |

LBC’s UAE pages carry a different piece of the trip: the domestic leg once a box leaves Metro Manila. From the National Capital Region, LBC lists 1 day within NCR, 1-2 days to North or South Luzon, 3-5 days to the Visayas, 4-6 days to Mindanao and 9-11 days to Batanes, and notes that “Number of days excludes Sundays and Holidays” (lbcexpress.com/ae, checked 2026-10-18). Whether its 7-15 day air window already includes that leg is left unsaid. How long a balikbayan box takes lays out each stage for any box.
Is there an Emirates Post or express-courier deadline to the Philippines?
No Christmas 2026 date for the Philippines was found on the UAE sites of Emirates Post, DHL, FedEx, UPS or Aramex as of 2026-10-18, so the date sits with each carrier. The table sets every channel side by side, in order of posted speed.
| Channel | Posted speed | Posted price-from (AED) | Weight terms | 2026 Christmas send-by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Palawan Cargo air box | 5-7 days Metro Manila, 7-12 Luzon, 15-25 Visayas and Mindanao | AED 20 per kg (Metro Manila, Luzon); AED 26 per kg (Visayas, Mindanao) | Minimum charge up to 31 kg | Not posted; weekly Monday cut-off |
| LBC Express UAE air | "As fast as 7-15 days" | "Starts at" AED 83 (air) | Not posted | Not posted |
| Palawan Cargo sea box | 40-90 days from vessel departure, by region | Medium box to Metro Manila: AED 185 in the rates block at the top of the pricing page, AED 180 in a second block lower on the same page | Medium box: "55kg to 65kg maximum weight" | Not posted |
| LBC Express UAE sea | No day count | "Starts at" AED 115 within Manila | Not posted | Not posted |

Is the Strait of Hormuz delaying sea cargo from the UAE in 2026?
Which UAE holidays and weekends fall around Christmas 2026?
Two UAE public holidays fall in the Christmas window, and neither moves. Article 3 of Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024 says a public holiday “cannot be transferred to another day” when it lands on a weekend or another holiday, and the u.ae list applies “to both, public and private sectors”.
| Date | Day | Status on the UAE official list |
|---|---|---|
| Dec 2, 2026 | Wednesday | National Day public holiday (day 1 of 2); also Palawan's weekly air departure day |
| Dec 3, 2026 | Thursday | National Day public holiday (day 2 of 2) |
| Dec 4, 2026 | Friday | Federal working day, 7.30 am to 12.00 pm; Sharjah government weekend |
| Dec 5-6, 2026 | Saturday-Sunday | Federal-government weekend |
| Dec 24-25, 2026 | Thursday-Friday | Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are absent from the UAE list |
| Jan 1, 2027 | Friday | Gregorian New Year public holiday |
| Jan 2-3, 2027 | Saturday-Sunday | Federal-government weekend |
Wednesday, Dec 2 is both a public holiday and the day Palawan’s air cargo normally leaves; the courier posts no holiday schedule. Friday, Jan 1 is followed by the federal weekend, three non-working days in a row on the federal calendar. Philippine closures are separate. They are listed on December remittance timing and Philippine holidays.
What does a money transfer from the UAE to the Philippines cost?
The World Bank prices this corridor at two amounts: AED 735 and AED 1,835, its USD 200 and USD 500 benchmarks. Q3 2025 is the newest quarter in the archived copy dated 2026-05-18. That survey, collected Aug 15-22, 2025, priced 21 UAE products. At AED 735 the average total cost was 3.04% (AED 22.33), and at AED 1,835 it was 1.61% (AED 29.55).
total cost, % of amount sent
| Amount sent | Average fee (AED) | Exchange-rate margin | Average total cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| AED 735 (USD 200) | 20.55 | 0.24% (about AED 1.78, derived) | 3.04% (AED 22.33) |
| AED 1,835 (USD 500) | 25.11 | 0.24% (about AED 4.44, derived) | 1.61% (AED 29.55) |
In this corridor the fee carries most of the cost. The average margin was 0.24% at both amounts, so the AED 20.55 fee made up about 92% of the AED 22.33 total on an AED 735 transfer (derived). The spread between products was wide: 0.81% to 5.21% at the smaller amount. Which UAE providers sit at each end is set out in send money from Canada, the UK or the UAE.
Does the Philippine Consulate in Dubai set a Christmas deadline?
No government office sets one. A Christmas cut-off is a courier’s operating date, and no 2026 balikbayan advisory from the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Migrant Workers Office in Dubai was found as of 2026-10-18. The nearest official word this season came from Manila. The Commission on Filipinos Overseas told senders to check both the forwarder and its Philippine counterpart against the Bureau of Customs list before shipping (Gulf News, updated 2026-10-06), which is the check set out in the card above.
What if the box arrives after Christmas?
Counted to Three Kings, Wednesday, Jan 6, 2027, Palawan’s slow-end sea windows give a sailing by Saturday, Nov 7 for mainland Luzon. The Visayas date (Oct 18) and the Mindanao date (Oct 8) had already arrived or passed by the check date. Its air table gives Monday cut-offs of Dec 7 for the Visayas and Mindanao, Dec 21 for mainland Luzon and Dec 28 for Metro Manila. These are derived dates, like the rest. The missed-cut-off guide lists what else still arrives once the last sailing has gone.
What changes once the box lands
Customs applies the same limits to a box from the UAE as to any balikbayan box. CAO 01-2018 sets two per-sender limits for each calendar year: under §4.2 a sender’s boxes, added together, may carry up to ₱150,000 in FCA value, and §4.1 allows the privilege three times a year (CAO master copy on customs.gov.ph, checked 2026-10-18). Neither section says which year a box crossing Dec 31 counts in; only the Bureau of Customs can settle it. The full rules are on the balikbayan box tax-free limit page.
How to read this
Every date marked derived on this page is Dec 24 minus a window the courier posts on its own site; none is a date a courier has announced. On Oct 18 Palawan Cargo LLC was the only UAE courier with day counts by region, and its sea windows run from vessel departure through a route that in 2026 passes land bridges and a congested Khor Fakkan. Dec 24 minus a posted window is also what the Christmas box cut-off checker computes, route by route.
Missed the Christmas box cut-off: what still arrives covers the channels left once the sailings pass, and Christmas gifts delivered in the Philippines from abroad covers gifts bought and delivered inside the country. The Christmas box cut-off tracker follows couriers in every corridor, the Christmas shipping timeline sets out the stages by date, and posted AED box prices are on UAE-to-Philippines courier rates.

Questions, answered
- What is the Christmas 2026 cut-off for a balikbayan box from Dubai or the UAE?
- None of the eight couriers with UAE-to-Philippines services on their own sites (LBC Express UAE, Palawan Cargo LLC, Pinas Express Cargo, Kabayan Cargo, MSM, CargoNet, RTT Cargo, SBC Express) posts a 2026 Christmas cut-off there (checked 2026-10-18; Palawan, LBC and Pinas again 2026-10-19). Palawan Cargo LLC posts sea windows counted from vessel departure. Taken back from Dec 24, they give a Metro Manila sailing between Wednesday, Nov 4 and Saturday, Nov 14, 2026; mainland Luzon's window ends Nov 4 and the Visayas and Mindanao windows Sunday, Oct 25. Its weekly air schedule gives Monday cut-offs of Nov 23 (Visayas, Mindanao), Dec 7 (Luzon) and Dec 14 (Metro Manila). Each is derived, not a posted date.
- How long does a balikbayan box take from Dubai to the Philippines by sea and by air?
- Palawan Cargo LLC's pricing page, checked 2026-10-18, gives sea delivery counted from vessel departure of 40-50 days to Metro Manila, 50-60 days to mainland Luzon, 60-80 days to the Visayas and 60-90 days to Mindanao and the inter-island areas, and warns that port congestion may affect it. By air it lists 5-7, 7-12 and 15-25 days for the same areas, with a Monday cut-off and a Wednesday departure each week; its homepage says 2-5 days. LBC Express UAE posts air 'as fast as 7-15 days' and gives no sea day count.
- How can a balikbayan forwarder in the UAE be checked against Philippine government lists?
- The DTI Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau publishes a monthly UAE file of foreign agents and their accredited Philippine forwarders. The file as of 31 August 2026 has 58 rows: 44 in Dubai, 5 in Abu Dhabi, 3 each in Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, 2 in Jebel Ali and 1 in Sharjah, each with an expiry date. The Bureau of Customs posts a copy of the same list and 2022 port memoranda. The Commission on Filipinos Overseas urged senders to check the BOC list (Gulf News, 2026-10-06).
- Is the Strait of Hormuz disruption affecting balikbayan boxes from the UAE in 2026?
- No UAE balikbayan courier checked on 2026-10-18 posts its routing. Update 51 of Maersk's Middle East advisories, revised 08 Oct 2026 and still the newest on Oct 18, suspends dry-cargo bookings to and from the UAE except for Khor Fakkan (imports only) and Jebel Ali (via land bridge), reports congestion and limited berthing at Khor Fakkan delaying clearance, and says customers may see longer transit times. Shipments on vessels transiting the strait incur an additional USD 1,000 per container on top of its Emergency Freight Rate. Lloyd's List Intelligence wrote on 8 October 2026 that containerships 'have made little improvement'.
- Which December 2026 days are public holidays in the UAE?
- The official u.ae list (Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, checked 2026-10-18) names National Day on 2 and 3 December, a Wednesday and Thursday in 2026, and Gregorian New Year on 1 January, a Friday in 2027. The list applies to the public and private sectors, and Article 3 bars moving a holiday that falls on a weekend. Christmas Day is absent from the list. The federal weekend is Saturday and Sunday; Sharjah's government weekend runs Friday to Sunday. Banks and exchange houses set their own opening days.
